Vascular Surgery Unit (Dept. of General Surgery)

Dr Anil Luther is presently working as Professor of General Surgery and Head of General and Vascular Surgery Unit and medical superintendent at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana. He has done his MS in 2002 from CMC&H Ludhiana, and enhanced his expertise by working at Lyell McEwin Hospital, Australia from 2006 to 2008 and thereafter worked as Fellow in Vascular Surgery at Royal Darwin Hospital, Australia. Dr Anil is an invited Faculty and member of the organizing committee at various conferences. He has done an advanced course in Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) from Australia which is valid internationally. He did Clinical attachment in vascular surgery in one of the prestigious centre of England, at Colchester General Hospital and has attended many National and International Conferences. Dr Anil is a Life member of The Association of Surgeons of India (FAIS), Vascular Society of India, Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) and Indian Association of Gastro Endo Surgeons (IAGES) , Vascular Access Society of India (VASI), Venous Association of India (VAI) and Indian Society OF Wound Management ( ISWM ) . He has the opportunity to work as Head Department of Emergency and Trauma centre and Ambulance, Mobile and Rescue Services (AMARS), of the esteemed tertiary care centre of North India, Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana.

Dr. Amit Mahajan is working as Professor in the Dept. of General Surgery, Christian Medical College Ludhiana. He is a graduate from Govt. Medical College, Miraj and a post graduate in surgery from Dr V. M. Govt. Medical College, Solapur in 2006. He completed his advanced training in Vascular surgery i.e. FVS (Post-Doctoral Fellowship In Vascular Surgery) degree from Christian Medical College, Vellore in July 2015. He has published around 40 papers in various national journals and has trained and encouraged many of his trainees and students to publish their research work in medical literature. During his training fellowship period, he won the “best paper award” for his presentation in 21st annual conference of the Vascular Society of India, VSICON held in 2014 at Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. Dr Amit Mahajan is interested in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery with special interest in the endovascular treatment for varicose veins with laser/ radiofrequency ablation. He is presently working as Associate professor in a unit specialized for vascular surgery in the Department of General surgery at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, and Punjab. Apart from FVS, he has been granted other fellowships to his credit i.e. Fellowship of Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS), Fellowship of Indian Association of Gastro Endo Surgeons (FIAGES), Fellowship of Association of Surgeons of India (FAIS) and Fellowship of International Medical Science Academy (FIMSA). He is a life member of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI), Indian Association of Gastro Endo Surgeons (IAGES), Indian Hernia Society (IHS), Venous Association of India (VAI), Vascular Access Society of India (VASI) and Indian Society OF Wound Management (ISWM).

Dr. Pranay Pawar is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Vascular surgery at Christian Medical College Ludhiana. He is the first MCh Vascular and Endovascular surgeon in the region. He is a graduate and post graduate in General Surgery from Christian Medical College Ludhiana. After developing a keen interest in Vascular Surgery he proceeded to complete his MCh in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher education and research from 2016- 2019. Dr Pawar has also completed a fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery under Professor Holzenbein in LHK Salzburg, Austria.

Dr. Pawar is well published and has presented many papers in International and National conferences. He has been invited as a faculty in various national conferences. He has twice won the best poster award at the VSICON 2017 and 2018, and the best free paper at VAICON 2019. He also won the rolling trophy for the best postgraduate team at the 12th mid-term conference in VSICON 2018. Dr Pawar has also received the prestigious Thiru G.K. Mooppanar Gold medal for the best outgoing postgraduate.

Dr. Pawar has a keen interest in Endovenous procedures for varicose veins, angioplasties in diabetic feet, trauma surgery, open bypasses and endovascular procedures in peripheral arterial disease and aneurysmal disease and in dialysis access salvage. He is life member of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASICON), Vascular Society of India (VSI) and Venous association of India (VAI).

Mr. Victor Bhatti is working as physician assistant in the vascular surgery unit in the department of General surgery, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. He completed his nursing training in 2007 from Frances Newton Hospital, Ferozepur. He has an 8 year’s experience as Operation theatre staff and 2 year’s experience in trauma care.
